Causeway Barn is a Northumbrian stone and slate barn conversion located on a converted Victorian farm Steading surrounded by tranquil fields to the south of Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland. The beautifully styled, spacious interiors accommodate up to 4 guests.
Causeway Barn and School Master’s Retreat are each awarded 5 Stars by the National Tourist Board for England AND each hold the,“Gold Award” in recognition of exceptional quality. Causeway Barn also holds the Grading of Mobility M1 (One Step Ahead) by the National Accessible Scheme. Both properties are personally managed and cared for by us, the owners, and we live close to the cottages.
Situated in beautiful Northumberland the Barn and the Retreat are a ten minute walk from each other, two miles south of Berwick upon Tweed. They are one mile from the stunning Heritage Coast where the magnificent beaches and lush sand dunes of Cocklawburn Beach, Cheswick Sands and Goswick Bay merge into a seven mile stretch of golden sand leading to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne’s tidal Causeway, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Nature Reserve.

School Master’s Retreat is situated in the historic heart of the Northumbrian village of Scremerston. Set in a walled garden and accommodating 2 guests the Retreat is attached to the owner’s home- the School Master’s House built in 1843.
