School Master’s Retreat

Situated in the heart of the Northumbrian village of Scremerston this charming stone and slate Retreat is set in walled gardens with it’s own courtyard and parking. The cottage is attached to the owner’s house- the School Master’s House built in 1843. This historic village house has been home to generations of School Master’s and Mistresses.

The Retreat is accredited with 4 Stars and the Gold Award from the Visit England Tourist Board. The building was completely renovated during 2016 with newly fitted kitchen, bathroom and furnishings. The open plan ground floor is 30ft in length and has a sitting room with 2 leather sofas WiFi box and flat screen TV with DVD player, over feature fireplace. The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling with flagstone floor and integrated appliances to include with washing machine with tumble dryer, dishwasher, fridge with ice box, fan oven, 4 ring hob and microwave. Solid oak worktops and quality dining table and chairs.

The staircase leads up to a light and airy balcony dressing area and off to the bedroom with quality pocket sprung king size bed with Egyptian cotton bed linen. An oak door leads into the en suite with rain shower over full length bath, basin and WC.

Outside, the Retreat has private gated parking for one car. The rear courtyard/garden is a sunny and sheltered with outdoor table, chairs, sun loungers and BBQ.  There is a lockable bike store for guest use. The property is attached to the owner’s home but remains self contained with independent utilities including combi boiler and full central heating.
